Defectos genéticos recesivos ligados al cromosoma X

Existen varios trastornos genéticos recesivos asociados al cromosoma X, tales como la hemofilia y la distrofia muscular. éstos se heredan a través de un defecto genético en el cromosoma X. La mujer tiene dos cromosomas X, uno heredado de su madre y otro del padre. El hombre posee un cromosoma X procedente de su madre y un cromosoma Y heredado del padre. Si una mujer presenta un defecto en uno de sus cromosomas X y el cromosoma X del padre es normal, existe un 25% de posibilidades por cada embarazo de tener: una niña sana, una niña portadora del defecto, un niño sano, o un niño con el trastorno.
