El cultivo peritoneal es un procedimiento en el cual, con una aguja, se extrae líquido de la cavidad peritoneal. Esta cavidad es el espacio entre las dos membranas que recubren la cavidad abdominal. Esta prueba se realiza para determinar la causa de ascitis, acumulación de líquido en el espacio peritoneal.
