Broncoscopia

La broncoscopia es una técnica quirúrgica para visualizar el interior de las vías respiratorias. Por medio de sofisticados instrumentos flexibles de fibra óptica, los cirujanos pueden explorar la tráquea, los bronquios del tallo central y algunos de los bronquios pequeños. En los niños, este procedimiento puede utilizarse para extraer objetos extraños que hayan sido inhalados. En los adultos, el procedimiento, por lo general, se usa para tomar muestras (biopsia) de lesiones sospechosas y para hacer cultivos de áreas específicas del pulmón.
