Biopsia de la glándula tiroides

La tiroides es una glándula ubicada en el cuello. Es parte del sistema endocrino u hormonal y juega un papel fundamental en la regulación del metabolismo del cuerpo. Si es necesario obtener una muestra de células de la glándula tiroides, se puede realizar una biopsia con una aguja fina. Durante este procedimiento, se inserta una aguja delgada en la glándula tiroides y se extrae una muestra de líquido y de las células tiroideas. Posteriormente, se retira la aguja y se envían las células al laboratorio para ser evaluadas. Este examen se realiza generalmente para diagnosticar enfermedad tiroidea o cáncer de la tiroides.
