El consomé de pollo, un remedio casero popular para el resfriado común desde al menos el siglo 12, realmente puede ayudar. El vapor del consomé de pollo puede abrir la nariz y garganta congestionadas. El caldo también suministra líquido que es importante para combatir infecciones. Algunos investigadores sugieren que las sustancias en el consomé de pollo reducen la inflamación asociada con el resfriado común, brindando así algo de alivio de los síntomas.

Aunque los investigadores no han podido probar que el consomé de pollo ayude a curar el resfriado común u otras enfermedades, uno puede aprovechar estas propiedades aparentemente curativas.
