Dr Robert Crawford Aortic Disease

Dr. Robert Crawford, co-director of the Center for Aortic Diseases, provides an overview of aortic aneurysms and dissections. The most important risk factor is hypertension, or high blood pressure. Pain in the chest or abdomen are clear sings of an aortic emergency, which is usually treated with surgery. Patients with high blood pressure or a family history of aortic disease should be screened early to help prevent life-threatening aortic emergencies.
