UMCH Partners with Isabels Gift
Providing Support to Families of new Neonatal Intensive Care Patients
The University of Maryland Medical Center (UMMC) has partnered with Isabel's Gift, a non-profit organization founded and run by parents of children who have spent time in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) to provide support to families of new NICU patients at the Medical Center.
Isabel's Gift was founded by Isabel's mom -- a former NICU parent -- and offers new NICU families compassionate assistance, emotional support and helpful information to help parents facing long hours by their baby's bedside. The Goal of Isabel's Gift is to create a “safety net” so that parents do not feel alone, confused or forgotten during a NICU stay.
Isabel's Gift provides comfort bags to each new NICU admission at the UMMC. These bags contain information packets, written by NICU parents for NICU parents, along with practical items to make the NICU experience more comfortable for the parents.
Volunteers are key to Isabel's Gift and to UMMC. To become a volunteer for this important cause, or to learn more about volunteering at UMMC, call 410-328-5600.
