Annual training must be completed by June 30. Go to Healthstream Training on the home page of the Intranet, and log in with your employee number and last name. Select the "My Learning" tab for the courses assigned to you. According to HR's annual training policy (HRM 119), employees who don't complete the training will be expected to report to work and complete all outstanding courses. "Employees will not be paid benefit time when they are out due to non-compliance in the completion of annual training."
Benefits Annual Open Enrollment runs till May 26
This is your chance to review the health, dental, and other benefits you now have and decide whether or not to make any changes for the next year. The new benefits start July 1. Benefits-eligible employees received their open enrollment packets in the mail at home last week. Please review the information carefully. There are no changes in the plans, including premiums, deductibles, and co-pays from the current plans. If the plan you now have continues to meet your needs and you do not want to make any changes, you do not need to do anything. Your current benefits will continue into the new plan year. If you do want to make changes in your benefit elections, please review your options carefully. Then go to www.myummsbenefits.org and follow the online instructions. Make sure you complete the entire process before you log out of the system.
Give the Gift of Life
The University of Maryland Medical Center will host a Red Cross blood drive on
June 4 and 5, from 8 am to 8 pm on the first floor of Gudelsky near the information desk. All donors will receive a $5 gift card good at any medical center restaurant as our thanks for donating. Please schedule your donation at

The May MTA passes are available in the Parking and Transportation Office in room G1J42 two doors down from the HR Service Center and the Great Cookie. The deadline to setup or cancel a June MTA pass is May 15 at noon. For more information on MTA, please refer to their website at http://mta.maryland.gov.
Camden Yard Parking Updates
There are Oriole evening games scheduled for May 14, 17, 20, 21 and 22 beginning at 7:05 pm. All vehicles must be removed no later that 5:30 pm. On May 15 there will be a day game scheduled for 12:35 PM. All Camden Yard parkers are to relocate to Lot H. For more information on restrictions during baseball season, please refer to the Parking page on the UMMC Intranet or email email@example.com. If you are interested in switching to alternate parking facility, please stop by the Parking and Transportation office in room G1J42 to find out what is available.
Maryland Half Marathon
The 5th annual 13.1 mile race takes place on Saturday, May 11, in Maple Lawn, Howard County. 100% of the net proceeds benefit the University of Maryland Marlene and Stewart Greenebaum Cancer Center. The event will also feature Dozer's Kids Fun Run and a post-race festival. Non-runners are welcome to sign up to fund raise, with no registration fee, and earn fund-raising premiums. University Farmers Market
The University Farmers Market returns on May 14. This will be the fifth season for the market, which will take place in Plaza Park, across the street from the hospital's main entrance, along Paca Street. Local farmers will be selling fresh fruits and vegetables, baked goods, soups, sauces and much more. The market will be open every Tuesday from 10 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. and will run weekly from May through November. The University Farmers Market is proud to announce that this year, in addition to WIC/FVC and FMNP (Farmers Market Nutrition Program) benefits, they will now accept SNAP (Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program) benefits, formerly known as Food Stamps.
Weight Watchers at Work
As part of the Step Up To Good Health Wellness Program, UMMC continues to offer Weight Watchers at Work. - The program is available by purchasing a monthly pass for $39.95 per month. The monthly pass system allows members to attend meetings at work at UMMC or near their home. You do not need to wait for a session to begin; you can join at any time. All Weight Watchers at Work meetings are scheduled in the lower level of the Paca Pratt building at 110 South Paca Street from 1 - 1:30 pm on Wednesdays. Weigh in begins at 12:45 pm prior to the meeting.

Step Up to Good Health 12-Week Challenge
Start the spring off by getting into shape!
One way to help get into shape is to join the Step Up to Good Health 12-Week Walking Challenge.
The walking challenge began on April 1and will continue until June 28. We will meet every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 12:00 p.m. - 12:30 p.m. in the Weinberg hallway across from the Patient Resource Center near the fountain. The group walks outside most days, and inside during inclement weather. Come join us and get in shape today!
Come join the Knitting and Crocheting Circle and help crochet or knit hats and lap blankets for our cancer patients at the Patient Resource Center, 1st Tuesday of the month, noon-2 pm. Drop ins welcome!
The University of Maryland Integrative Care Team will hold yoga classes every Friday from 3-4 pm in the Patient Assembly Room (S1D03). The cost is $5 per session; the funds will support patient resources and nursing education. Mats will be provided and comfortable work attire is acceptable.
