Annual training must be completed by June 30. Go to Healthstream Training on the home page of the Intranet, and log in with your employee number and last name. Select the “My Learning” tab for the courses assigned to you. According to HR’s annual training policy (HRM 119), employees who don’t complete the training will be expected to report to work and complete all outstanding courses. “Employees will not be paid benefit time when they are out due to non-compliance in the completion of annual training.”
Give the Gift of Life
The University of Maryland Medical Center will host a Red Cross blood drive on
June 27, from 8 am to 2 pm in the Paca Pratt Building, lower level. All donors will receive a $5 gift card good at any medical center restaurant as our thanks for donating. Please schedule your donation at www.umm.edu/blood or just stop by.
The July MTA passes will be available on June 24 in the Parking and Transportation Office in room G1J42 two doors down from the HR Service Center and the Great Cookie. Passes will also be available in the Paca Pratt Learning Center on June 26 from 10:30-11:30 am. For more information on MTA, please refer to their website at http://mta.maryland.gov.
Camden Yard Parking Updates
There are Oriole evening games scheduled for June 24-28 beginning at 7:05 pm. All vehicles must be removed no later that 5:30 pm. For more information on restrictions during baseball season, please refer to the Parking page on the UMMC Intranet or email email@example.com. If you are interested in switching to alternate parking facility, please stop by the Parking and Transportation office in room G1J42 to find out what is available.
University Farmers Market
The University Farmers Market takes place in Plaza Park, across the street from the hospital’s main entrance, along Paca Street. Local farmers will be selling fresh fruits and vegetables, baked goods, soups, sauces and much more. The market will be open every Tuesday from 10 am until 2:30 pm and will run weekly from May through November. The University Farmers Market is proud to announce that this year, in addition to WIC/FVC and FMNP (Farmers Market Nutrition Program) benefits, they will now accept SNAP (Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program) benefits, formerly known as Food Stamps.
Literature and Medicine
Humanities at the Heart of Heath Care is a reading and discussion group offered through the Maryland Humanities Council. Discuss selected pieces of literature over dinner with your health care colleagues. Participants are encouraged to attend all five monthly sessions held on the third Thursday of the month from June to October in Weinberg Learning Center, rooms 6 & 7. The program is sponsored by Pastoral Care Services at no charge. Space is limited to 30. This continuing nursing education activity was approved by the Maryland Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation for a maximum of 7.5 CEU credits. Weight Watchers at Work
As part of the Step Up To Good Health Wellness Program, UMMC continues to offer Weight Watchers at Work. The program is available by purchasing a monthly pass for $39.95 per month. The monthly pass system allows members to attend meetings at work at UMMC or near their home. You do not need to wait for a session to begin; you can join at any time. All Weight Watchers at Work meetings are scheduled in the lower level of the Paca Pratt building at 110 South Paca Street from 1 - 1:30 pm on Wednesdays. Weigh in begins at 12:45 pm prior to the meeting.

New Campus Walking Paths
The walking paths are a joint health and wellness initiative between UMB, UMMC and the Baltimore VA. The walking paths go throughout the Campus from three-quarters of a mile to 1.5 miles. UMMC Healing Arts Exhibit for Employees & Families
UMMC’s newest C2X Team, The Healing Arts Team, has partnered with the National Arts Program® to host our first employee art exhibition and awards reception at UMMC on October 9. All UMMC employees, physicians, and their immediately family members are invited to exhibit their artwork and compete for cash prizes sponsored by the National Arts Program® in the following categories: Amateur Adult, Intermediate Adult, Professional Adult, Youth 12 & Under and Teen 13-18. There is no entry fee, but all entries must be the original work of the applicant, completed within the last three years. Registration is now open until August 23.
