Give the Gift of Life
The University of Maryland Medical Center will host a Red Cross blood drive on August 28 from 8 am to 1:30 pm in the Paca Pratt Building, Lower Level. All donors will receive a $5 gift card good at any medical center restaurant as our thanks for donating. Please schedule your donation at www.umm.edu/blood or just stop by.
Camden Yards Parkers
Please note that there are evening games on August 25-29. The games start at 7:05 pm and all vehicles must be removed no later than 5:30 pm. For more information on restrictions during baseball season, please refer to the Parking page on the UMMC Intranet or email email@example.com. If you are interested in switching to an alternate parking facility, please stop by the Parking and Transportation office in room G1J42 to find out what is available.
University Farmers Market
Stop by The University Farmers Market in the Plaza Park, across the street from the hospital’s main entrance, along Paca Street. Local farmers will be selling fresh fruits and vegetables, baked goods, soups, sauces and much more. The market will be open every Tuesday from 10 am until 2:30 pm and will run weekly through November. The University Farmers Market, in addition to WIC vouchers and senior coupons, now accepts SNAP (Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program) benefits, formerly known as Food Stamps.
Weight Watchers at Work
As part of the Step Up To Good Health Wellness Program, UMMC continues to offer Weight Watchers at Work. Join us for a free Open House on Thursday, August 28 at 12:45 pm in room 2 in the lower level of the Paca Pratt building. This will be hosted by a Weight Watchers leader who has successfully lost weight with Weight Watchers. Engage in fun activities; learn about the proven Weight Watchers approach, the new Check monthly pass and how you can attend At Work meetings. Weight Watchers offers the new Simple Start program, two weeks of meals designed to get you off to a fantastic start. You will learn what to eat to be satisfied and start losing weight.
The program is available by purchasing a monthly pass for $39.95 per month. The monthly pass system allows members to attend meetings at work at UMMC or near their home. You do not need to wait for a session to begin; you can join at any time.
All Weight Watchers at Work meetings are scheduled in the lower level of the Paca Pratt building at 110 South Paca Street from 1 - 1:30 pm on Wednesdays. Weigh in begins at 12:45 pm prior to the meeting. Lexington Market Discounts
Lexington Market is partnering with the University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) to offer some exciting market discounts for UMB students, faculty, and staff, and University of Maryland Medical Center (UMMC) employees. How to Receive the Discount:
- Visit Lexington Market and make sure you have your UMB or UMMC ID.
- Look for any vendor with a "UMB/UMMC Discount" badge in their window.

Bariatric Surgery Support Group
This group offers support for post-operative bariatric surgery patients to gain confidence and support necessary to maintain weight loss success. Meetings will be held at UMMC in the Patient Assembly Room (PRC) on:
2nd Thursday of each month 5:45-6:30 pm
4th Tuesday of each month, doors will open at 11:30 am and the meeting will start at noon (bring your lunch), low calorie drinks will be provided.

UMMC Healing Arts Exhibit for Employees & Families
The Healing Arts Team, has partnered with the National Arts Program® to host our second employee art exhibition and awards reception at UMMC on October 2. All UMMC employees, physicians, and their immediately family members are invited to exhibit their artwork and compete for cash prizes sponsored by the National Arts Program® in the following categories: Amateur, Intermediate, Professional, Teen 13-18 and Youth 12 & Under. There is no entry fee, but all entries must be the original work of the applicant, completed within the last three years. Registration is now open until August 8.
