Si usted se está ahogando por algo, puede realizar la maniobra de Heimlich en usted mismo de la siguiente manera:

  1. Empuñe la mano y coloque el pulgar debajo de la parrilla costal y por encima del ombligo.
  2. Sujete el puño con la otra mano y presione en el área con un movimiento rápido hacia arriba

Usted también se puede apoyar sobre el borde de una mesa, silla o baranda y empujar rápidamente la parte superior del vientre (abdomen superior) contra el borde.

Si es necesario, debe repetir este movimiento hasta que el objeto que obstruye las vías respiratorias salga.
